There is Purpose and hope in Parenting Disability despite the devastation and grief of diagnosis. Here is the place to spread awareness and share your story about your special needs child or children in a safe and likeminded space! Where we don't tell you that:
"They will grow out of it eventually! or
"Surely, it isn't as bad as you say?" or
"He or she will be independent if you just do this!"
“There is so much help out there, you just need to find it.”
“Early intervention is key!”
Well, not everyone is diagnosed little! {Some of my cousins were diagnosed with Autism in their early teenage years!}
I have experienced worse: "Don't bring your child out in public if you cannot control her!"
Sometimes the pressure to meet social expectations of your child is overwhelming. Especially when you don't understand fully what your child's disability is about.
Here is the space where we understand, empathise, comfort, and encourage you! We grieve alongside you, and you are not alone on your journey. This is a community of parents and carers with children living with all types and levels of disability. There is so much we are not aware of, and my aim of this blog is to spread awareness about disability, my experiences of parenting a child with profound disabilities and hopefully to encourage you along your journey.
Just send an email to ParentingdisabilitySG@outlook.com.au if you want to share your story with me. I can upload it here on my blog, either anonymously or by name. Or you can post a comment about any of my posts.
